how to CONNECT YOUR ANDROID SMARTPHONE TO VPN

TO CONNECT ANDROID SMARTPHONE TO A VPN, YOU NEED TO HAVE A VPN SERVER SETUP AND CONFIGURED TO ALLOW ANDROID MOBILE ACCESS. THIS MOSTLY DEPENDS ON THE TYPE AND VERSION OF THE OPERATING SYSTEM AND WHAT TECHNOLOGY AND VPN PROTOCOLS ARE SUPPORTED.

A VPN PROTOCOL IS A MAJOR PART OF THE CONNECTION AND THE ANDROID SMARTPHONE NEED TO SUPPORT THE MOST COMMON VPN PROTOCOLS SUCH AS L2TP, PPTP, IPSEC, SSL AND SSTP. MOBILE USERS CAN SUBSCRIBE TO VPN SERVICES WITH CAPABILITY FOR ONLINE CONFIGURATION. SINCE VERSION 1.6, ANDROID SMARTPHONES NOW COME WITH BUILT-IN VPN CLIENT AND SUPPORT WHICH IS USUALLY FOUND UNDER THE SETTINGS >> WIRELESS & NETWORKS MENU WHICH CAN BE USED TO SET UP AND MANAGE MOBILE VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORKS.

CONFIGURING VPN SETTINGS ON ANDROID SMARTPHONE IS FAIRLY SIMPLE BUT YOU WILL NEED TO DOWNLOAD PROPER AUTHENTICATION CERTIFICATES OR INSTALL THEM FROM YOUR MICROSD IF THE VPN SERVER REQUIRES CERTIFICATES. IF THE BUILT-IN ANDROID CLIENT DOES NOT INCLUDE INTEGRATED SUPPORT FOR SOME VPN SERVERS SUCH AS OPENVPN, THEN YOU WILL NEED TO INSTALL A THIRD-PARTY TOOL SUCH AS CISCOS ANYCONNECT SSL VPN CLIENT FOR ANDROID.

ANYCONNECT WAS RELEASED FOR GALAXY TABS AND GALAXY S/S II BUT CAN ALSO WORK WITH OTHER ANDROID DEVICES IF THEY ARE ROOTED. MOST VPN SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE WITH AFFORDABLE MONTHLY OR YEARLY FEES AND GUARANTEED SECURE AND ANONYMOUS BROWSING EVEN WHEN ON PUBLIC WI-FI HOTSPOTS. WITH ANDROID VPN, YOU CAN ALSO ACQUIRE AN IP ADDRESS OF A DIFFERENT COUNTRY GIVING YOU UNRESTRICTED ACCESS TO GEO-RESTRICTED INTERNET SERVICES SUCH AS HULU, BBC IPLAYER AND FOX ONLINE MEDIA SERVICES.
